Acquisition expands managed IT capabilities, sets Sharp’s future direction, and strengthens its commitment to help Kiwi businesses navigate the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Auckland, New Zealand: Sharp NZ today
announced the acquisition of leading New Zealand Managed Services and Security Provider
(MSSP), Securecom.
The acquisition represents a
signficant milestone for Sharp NZ, and signals a new phase of growth for the
business. The company will significantly increase in size and its capabilities expanded
to include a comprehensive suite of managed IT services. These services will complement
Sharp’s existing range of business technology solutions, including
multifunction print systems, commercial displays and software systems.
Sharp NZ Managing Director Jan Nicol-Winitana,
says the acquisition marks an important and strategic step forward for the organisation.
“This transaction strengthens
our market position, expands our technical capabilities, and supports our long-term
stability and growth strategy. Importantly,
it enhances our ability to deliver to our customers IT services that are essential
for today’s businesses to increase productivity and remain competitive,
including cloud-based solutions, cyber security, network infrastructure and managed
supply services. It also reflects our company strapline – ‘in step with your
future’ – which is about our ambition to build value-based relationships with
our customers, supporting them and being by their side as they navigate the
fast pace of change in today’s market.
“As we introduce
IT services into our business, we shift from being historically a traditional
print and copier business to a more unified technology partner for our
customers.”
Securecom
brings to Sharp extensive experience in providing
end-to-end IT services to New Zealand businesses across all industry sectors for
more than two decades. The company brings
expertise in creating and supporting secure, workplace environments, with
cost-effective network, security and cloud solutions, and a proven track record
in helping customers understand and optimise their ICT landscapes.
“Together, we will create a more
meaningful and streamlined offering which will better meet the evolving needs of NZ businesses. The partnership also
provides access to new
talent, technical expertise, and resources, positioning us both well for the
future of the industry,” adds Ms Nicol-Winitana.
Managing
Director Greg Mikkelsen says joining the Sharp family represents a significant
opportunity for the business.
“We are delighted to be moving forward with Sharp. The
opportunity to leverage the benefits of its global scale to add value to our
local customers is an exciting proposition. The alignment of Sharp's values and
customer-focused approach made them a very natural choice to power the next
phase of our growth. This investment by Sharp demonstrates a strong commitment
to the New Zealand business community and we look forward to working together
for the benefit of our people, our customers, and our partners.”
The
acquisition follows an in-depth evaluation and discovery process, during which
cultural and values alignment was a non-negotiable priority for both companies.
Shared values - especially in relation to employee engagement and customer
satisfaction – were fundamental to the agreement.
“Securecom
consistently demonstrates high levels of customer satisfaction and strong customer
and employee retention, which closely aligns with Sharp’s culture and ethos,” says
Ms Nicol-Winitana. “We share a common philosophy that our teams are not simply service
or product providers, but trusted advisors. We also
recognise that Securecom’s deep local market knowledge and established customer
relationships are critical foundations for our combined future growth.”
The Securecom
purchase represents a significant investment by Sharp in New Zealand’s
technology economy, following similar global initiatives by its parent company
Sharp Global. Sharp NZ is the first subsidiary within the Asia-Pacific region
to integrate a Managed Services Provider company into its operations.
“We are delighted
to have the full support and confidence of our parent company to make it a
successful initiative for both the Sharp and Securecom businesses,” says Ms
Nicol-Winitana. “As technology continues to transform the way organisations
operate, it is essential we evolve with it.”
Securecom’s Auckland-headquartered
operations and 24/7 Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) will continue with no structural
nor operational changes under Mr Mikkelsen’s leadership. The business will
adopt a refreshed brand identity with the byline ‘Powered by Sharp’. Under
the new agreement, Jan Nicol-Winitana will continue in her capacity as Managing
Director and has also been appointed as the new Chair of Securecom, replacing
Chris New. Mr New will take up a board advisory role, guiding the business to
ensure a smooth transition for both Sharp and Securecom.
“The
Securecom brand, powered by Sharp, is now well positioned for accelerated
growth,” says Mr New. “I’m looking forward to continuing my association with the
business and contributing to this exciting new chapter in Securecom’s story.”
