Microsoft 365 / Exchange online retiring Basic Authentication (SMTP Auth)
Microsoft announced that support for Basic Authentication (SMTP Auth) is being removed for their M365 / Office365 / Exchange online service in September 2025. This change will affect devices from using the Scan to Email functionality if they are unable to login to exchange online using OAuth 2.0.

What does this affect?
Features which use email (SMTP) to function may be affected. These include scan-to-email, Sharp-fax, notifications, meter-readings, and auto-toner ordering.What should I do?
If your device supports OAuth 2.0, it can be configured as per the operation manual.If your device does not support OAuth 2.0, another email service needs to be configured - such as your own email server, or another email provider.
