Protect your data, access and network
We take security seriously, and so should you.
Proven protection for confidential data, device access and network safeguards
As printers become part of an organisations integrated document workflows and business processes, security naturally transforms into a serious concern. Securely managing business and user data is critical for corporations to be successful. Sharp addresses these concerns by providing a suite of integrated security features designed to help protect your information and document assets.
Physical Security Threats
Typically, office printers are located in areas accessible by multiple people. Unauthorised personnel can potentially access your corporate networks when these devices are not fully protected. Additionally, any information stored on a local desktop computer or server can be printed without authorisation. Meanwhile, at the printer, confidential information can be accidentally or even purposely copied from stored documents, taken from the output tray or faxed without permission.
Network security threats
Unsecured access to a company's stored data makes it vulnerable to being stolen or altered. In a worst case scenario, an external user can obtain confidential information, unleash a Denial of Service (DOS) attack, or even place a virus on the device via a network or a phone line. Through a fax line or corporate LAN, communications could be intercepted or sent without permission anywhere in the world. Even printer data stored on a hard disk drive or in its memory could be compromised or stolen if not protected
Sharp security suite
Sharp helps IT administrators and organisations achieve optimal document security through the Sharp Security Suite. The Sharp Security Suite is effective at preventing unauthorised access to your network and your most confidential information. Sharp printers utilise a multi-layered approach for protection—providing exceptional and extensive control over the users, devices, ports, protocols and applications that access Sharp's printers in your network.
The Sharp Security Suite includes:

- Sharp's Data Security Kit (Commercial and Common Criteria Certified versions)
- Print driver security features
- Sharp OSA technology-enabled security applications
Sharp Data Security
Protect your organization’s critical and confidential data assets with Sharp’s multi-layered approach to security that includes an extensive set of standard security features and optional Data Security Kits (DSKs).
Standard security coupled with an optional DSK protects and controls the major systems and subsystems (including print, copy, scan, fax jobs, network settings, memory components, local user interface). The Sharp data encryption method uses the 256*-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm on all data before it is written to RAM and the hard disk drive. It also provides overwriting routines to ensure that all information is virtually irretrievable by unauthorized users. An End-Of-Lease feature ensures that all data is erased before returning or shutting down the MFD.
Sharp Network Interface
Threats to data and information can result from unauthorized access to the MFD or printer, or by various forms of malicious network intrusion attempts and hacks.
Sharp MFDs’ intelligent network interface provides an extensive set of access and network control security features designed to prevent these threats as well as improper document or device.
