Introducing New Sharp Quattron Technology

Media Release 20 October, 2010

Quattron quad pixel technology a world first in the TV industry

Sharp is once again at the forefront of LCD technology with the groundbreaking new Quattron quad pixel technology, a world first for the industry.

Sharp has added a fourth subpixel – yellow, to the conventional red, green and blue, which increases the colour spectrum. Quattron technology enables over eight million sub pixels (the standard is six million) which results in never before seen colours and a brighter, clearer picture using less power. When combined with Sharp’s 1080P X-Gen LCD panel, incorporating UV²A Technology, and edge-lit LED backlight, energy consumption is dramatically reduced compared to conventional fluorescent-backlight LCD TVs.

Wrapped up in a contemporary design, the full flat glass extends across the screen to meet the slim border and slim design at only 39mm thick.

Quattron LCD TVs feature Fine Motion Advanced technology 100Hz frame rate conversion for reducing motion blur and incorporates SRS TruSurround™ HD™ and Bass Enhancer technologies to provide clearer sound quality.

Sharp New Zealand Managing Director, Jan Nicol, says “Sharp is leading the charge with this new technology which not only provides superior colours and overall viewing experience, but also uses less power, benefitting the environment.”

The Quattron models boast a selection of connections including HDMI x 4, AV-In x 1, Component x 1, PC In as well as AV, Optical Audio and headphone out terminals as well as a USB terminal for Media playback and LAN (RJ45) terminals.

Sharp Quattron televisions, made in Japan, come with a three year warranty and are available at leading electronic outlets nationwide. Experience the difference yourself, you have to see it, to see it.
